Tomohiko Yamada biography
Tomohiko Yamada was born in 1943. His family’s home is a company called Japan Metal Art And Craft Co., Ltd, which was founded by his father. It is a small company, 77 years old, with 10 employees, and until 15 years ago he was the second generation president.
The main task of the company is the production of arts, crafts and awards memorabilia.
The products handled include bronze statues, relief works, medals, trophies and accessories.
The company handles the entire process from planning and design to the production of prototypes, as well as manufacturing and sales.
Their main clients are well-known Japanese companies, as well as national authorities and institutions, schools and hospitals, and we also work with individuals.
Tomohiko Yamada, the current chairman of the company, now works mainly as a sculptor.
He started sculpting in his twenties and continued to do so alongside his work, and now lives in the world of art as a contemporary sculptor. Since he had no teachers, he was inspired by many artists and developed his own ideal of sculpture.
He is currently a member of the board of the Nitten, an organisation to which he belonged for many years, and also holds the position of chairman of the board of directors
of the Japan Sculptors Association, where he is committed to the development of the sculpture world and to the training of future generations.
He also holds the position of a member of the Japan Art Academy and is active in the Japanese sculpture world.
